Red, Hot, Spicy!!
Ulli karam dosa a perfect way to start your day!! It is made with super delicious Ulli karam/Onion chutney which enhances your taste buds. If you are fond of Dosa's and spicy food, then this recipe is perfect for you.
Ingredients
For Dosa
1 cup Urad dal
1.5 cup Rice
1/4 cup Poha/Atukulu
Salt as needed
Oil for making Dosa's
For Ulli Karam
1 cup Onions, sliced
3-4 Garlic Cloves, peeled
2 tbsp Tamarind paste
4-5 Dried Red chilies
Salt to taste
1 tbsp Oil
To make Dosa Batter
Wash and soak urad dal, rice and poha in water for 5 to 6 hours.
Drain the urad dal, rice and poha. Add them to a blender and blend into a smooth paste by adding little water and salt as needed.
Transfer the batter into a air tight container and keep the container in a warm place overnight or for 6 to 8 hours to ferment.
To make Ulli karam
Heat oil in a pan, add onions, red chilies, garlic cloves and saute for 5-6 minutes.
Let it cool down a little bit.
Blend the sauteed mixture along with salt and tamarind paste to a fine paste.
To make Ulli karam dosa
In a heated tawa/pan/griddle, pour a ladle of dosa batter and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
Take 2 tbsp of Ulli karam and spread evenly on the dosa.
Drizzle 1/2 tsp of Oil around dosa and cook till the dosa turns brown in color and crisp.
Do not flip the dosa. Just fold the dosa and serve hot with Peanut Chutney.
