Easy to make 'Flan'

Updated: Dec 29, 2021

Here is an 'easy to make' flan recipe. It is made using condensed milk, heavy cream and eggs.

Yield: 8 Servings

Ingredients

For Flan

  • 14oz condensed milk

  • 12oz heavy cream

  • 3 large eggs

  • 2tsp vanilla extract

For Caramel

  • 2/3 cup Sugar

  • 2 tbsp water

Method:

  • In a medium-size saucepan add sugar and water and heat it on a low heat.

  • It will slowly start to melt and then turn into a deep dark caramel color. This will take about 6-8 minutes.

  • Remove the caramel from the heat and immediately pour into a 10-inch round pan. Swirl the caramel to cover the bottom of the pan evenly.

  • Set the caramel-coated pan aside to cool and harden.

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the eggs, condensed milk, heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract. Whisk together until everything is fully combined.

  • Strain mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a larger bowl.

  • Pour the strained custard into the pan over the caramel.

  • Place the flan pan in a large baking dish and pour warm water in the dish until it reaches about halfway up the pan.

  • Carefully place the baking dish in the oven and bake at 350F for 50 minutes.

  • Let the flan cool at room temperature.

  • Once it's cooled, cover with the lid or foil and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.

  • To unmold the flan, slide a sharp knife around the edges of the pan and carefully invert on serving plate.

  • Slice, serve and enjoy.
